ARCHITECTURAL THEORY AT THE BACHELOR PROGRAMME

Three courses in architectural theory were recently offered to students on the bachelor programme:
8 – 21 December 2011: all first year students participated in the course “Meaning-making in architecture”, 2 – 13 January 2012: second year students followed the course “Event” and 1 – 14 February 2012: third year students followed the course “Constructing Reality”. We would like to show a few examples of this theoretically based work:

The theme of the third year is based on the Aarhus European Capital of Culture 2017 project. Although the concept of culture forms a part of the title, Aarhus 2017 is about more than theatre, music and museums. The theme also includes the concept of urbanism in which everyday life has just as important a role to play as the conventional conception of urban cultural offers.

Discussions of the concept are concretised in culture-creating interventions, all of which are located in Aarhus.
