STUDIO URBAN NATURE – SPRING 2012
Studio Urban Nature (SUN12) is now up and running! The assignment takes its departure from the recent plans to restore Kolindsund, a large lake and wetland drained as part of the national effort to reclaim new land for agriculture during the 19th and 20th centuries, to its former state as an important nature resort spanning almost the entire width of Djursland.
Rather than looking back to a nature, which disappeared as a consequence of the draining project, SUN12 will look ahead and ask; what kind of nature is relevant for the 21st century? How can landscape design as an in-depth research- and intervention process help excavate the future of Kolindsund? What kind of new urban natures can be developed?
Guest professor Kelly Shannon, KU Leuven, is co-running the studio, which is a collaboration between candidate students from the Aarhus School of Architecture and post-graduate students from KU Leuven.
10. STUDIO URBAN NATURE – AUTUMN 2011
This term, Studio Urban Nature has provided planning-related suggestions for the development of the East Jutland Metropolitan Area which includes Randers and Kolding and connects five of the largest towns of Jutland forming a ’New Network Metropolis’.
The combined landscape-related points of impact of students create a strategy for the entire metropolis.
